September 15-17, 2026 – Crate Design and Performance
Join Woodpack Global and Virginia Tech for a 2.5-day, in-person short course on the principles of wooden crate design, built around Woodpack’s new software module, the Crate Design System™ (CDS). Attendees will explore the crate styles and characteristics commonly used across the U.S., learn how wood selection influences field performance, and gain hands-on experience evaluating that performance and selecting the right fasteners for the job. The course also introduces the fundamentals of wood mechanics, including how truss and buckling theories apply to designing crate components.
